The Body Journey

Get out of your head. Get into your body.

Do you believe this?

  • You suspect your body is an enemy who must be shamed, conquered and disciplined.

If you feel this way, you could be ready for a body journey. It’s much more than personal training. A body journey implies that you are about to do something bigger and deeper than just reaching a fitness goal or ideal weight. It implies that you will not be the same after. There will be a mindset change and a body transformation.

Some might be too scared or confused to make the jump alone. Some have tried unsuccessfully. Taking a Body Journey with me as your guide means that you have a seasoned professional coach assuring your success. I'll be there to guide your transformation and celebrate your breakthroughs.  

A New Direction

Three main principles make this Body Journey radically different from mainstream fitness:

  • 1 A bio-psycho-social-emotional approach: Your personal history and beliefs matter, and we use them to create the emotional conditions necessary for change. Instead of reps/sets, things like your identity, race, gender, ethnicity, upbringing, religion, values, temperament and emotions are the factors that determine your unique journey. Mainstream fitness culture doesn't consider what makes you truly unique. That's why nothing sticks for some people.
  • 2 A relationship-based approach: The Body Journey is based on negotiation, fairness and consent between you and your physical body. You will learn to treat your body with love and respect, the way you would with a beloved partner. Through a non-transactional relationship approach, we can create a fitness system  that will finally last.
  • 3 Pleasure-focused: It seems obvious, but doing something you enjoy will last. Suffering is not necessary for success. We uncover what you find pleasurable and add strength and flexibility along the way. You'll learn how to find pleasure in every movement you try.

What to Expect

  • 1 Together we will reveal body's “user manual.” This holistic map grows and adapts as your skill, sensitivity and capacity for enjoyment grows.
  • 2 Trauma-informed weightlifting techniques to build true muscular strength. Weighted stretching to soften the stiffness of aging and an overstressed nervous system.
  • 3 Body Trust Coaching Sessions where we can process the negative myths and fallacies that block your growth.
  • 4 Mindset reset from negative body paradigms to positive body beliefs, positive aging and a mature understanding of pain.
  • 5 Significant reduction of chronic pain or injury and resilience around future pain based on current pain science research.
  • 6 Referrals to other coaches and therapists in somatic therapy, sexuality, psychedelic-assisted therapy and traditional bodywork.
  • 7 Assemble a minimalist home gym that give you maximum flexibility and pleasure.
Garden Gym

A Body Journey is recommended for these groups...

  • BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and non-white-identifying people seeking alternatives to mainstream fitness monoculture that is rooted in hetero-patriarchy.
  • Non-athletes turned off by toxic "bro" gym culture and gender stereotypes, who nevertheless seek body positivity and fitness fluency.
  • Asian-American men seeking to reclaim their bodies, physical strength and personal power.
  • Formerly athletic people who have lost fitness due to normal age and lifestyle challenges (ie COVID, "Dad-bod", childbirth, mid-life crisis)
  • People who are unable to exit an injury-cycle despite consulting different experts.

Body Journeys are not traditional personal training or mainstream fitness. And while it relies on weights for strength training, it may not be a good fit are not doing any self-inquiry or open to mindset shifts, want a quick fix or linear progress, and do not see the impact of patriarchy and/or white supremacy on the body.

Here's a few questions people have.

Do I have to meet in person? Expand

No! We can absolutely train through the wonders of the internet using Zoom video conferencing.

Depending on your goals, you may need to have a few items for your home gym (it's pretty difficult to train in Weightlifting if you don't have a barbell to use), but it's very doable.

I can even come to your location to help you set up your home gym.

How does it work? Expand

Once you schedule your consultation call, we'll determine if my programs are a good fit for you.

We will begin a journey anywhere from 3 months or longer, depending on your needs.

If not, I have lots of trusted referral sources I am happy to connect you with.

How much access do I have to you? Expand

A body journey will have many ups and downs, and we will work through those during our sessions, and outside of the sessions via WhatsApp.

This way we can traverse the journey together and you can receive the support you need to see yourself transform.
